Her Spirit Visits Old Friends

Her Spirit Visits Old Friends

Bobbie and I had not been lifelong friends, but in her late years our paths connected through common interests: world travel and a local writer’s group. She passed more than ten years ago. I attended her memorial where her adult children gifted each visitor a paperback book Bobbie had written that included photographs from her life. I hadn’t seen the book in years.

This month while sorting and purging paperwork, I came across Bobbie’s book, a small book, seventy pages. I read a few stories and missed her all over again. I felt her spirit near.

I was telling a friend from the same writer’s group about finding and reading Bobbie’s book. The friend had recently moved to a new home and had been unpacking boxes to fill her bookcase. She, too, had come upon Bobbie’s book—the same day.

I believe that after ten years, that we both had connected with Bobbie in the same way, on the same day, is beyond coincidence. I believe her spirit was visiting two old friends to say hello, I’m still here.

Shut the Cold Room Door

This is my mother’s story but also leads on to what happened to me this summer… in the cold room. I have loved the paranormal since I was young as I can remember. And this is my story

“The dogs would come running…”

In high school, my mother would be at my grandparents house alone, just relaxing and the dogs would chase what we call “something” down our long hallway. Everyone who was alone would hear a shriek and the dogs would come running as if they were being chased back.

I must tell you, you can see into it at the start and behind the stairs where the kitchen starts.

She saw a big black figure

Her most terrifying incident was when she was alone, watching television, the couch used to be directed towards the stairs as that was where the television was. She was watching when she heard footsteps, she looked into the hallway to see a big black figure run down the hallway. She called “Hello?” there was no response and so she thought she had seen nothing. Until my aunt said she experienced the same things too.

Another thing to happen in this house was telephone calls coming from the home phone with no one on the other line. They were traced and we found out they were coming from the basement. The thing is, there is only one home phone.

Shut the cold room door

My grandparents knew they had spirits after that and decided to shut the cold room door in the basement which was the oldest room in the house.

After that nothing happened.

My cousins and I were born and my grandparents still live there. My eldest cousin and I decided to open the cold room door as a joke. We went down there and I already had a sick feeling. We opened it quickly and a shadow quickly sped by and disappeared. At this point I was screaming and didn’t know what to think.

It’s been a month and I refuse to enter the house.

Haunted by a Dead Cat

Haunted by a Dead Cat

My cat Licorice passed away on Nov. 29, 2011. I moved to this place Oct. 2017, but she started to show up (?) in June of this year and has ruined my health.

“I have felt her paw, whiskers, nose …”

It started with the foot prints at night and then it was her crawling up under the bottom of my covers. Any night that I lay on the sofa (bad leg) she goes under the sofa and keeps hitting my back. I have ignored her for more than a month and have blocked all access to the sofa and the bed. I’m very confused though as I have felt her paw, whiskers, nose, claw and body.

“I can feel her kicking …”

As she’s dead, how can you do that as it’s just her spirit, and why is it when she’s under a pillow (which I just took away), I can feel her kicking? If I put my foot on the pillow to rest it or if I get up to go to the kitchen then come back to sit down and sit on her, I can feel her kick me so I move so I don’t hurt her???

My son thinks I’m losing it, but believe me, have a dead cat pat you on the shoulder and you’ll wish you were.

Haunted by a dead cat and desperate for answers

I don’t know where to go from here. Any suggestions? Please don’t think I’m a wacko, I’m not, just desperate for answers!

— D. Gideon in Canada

Thank you, D., for sharing your story. I’ll give my opinion on some of your issues, but please note that I’m no expert and these are simply opinions. I’ll share what a wise sage once advised me after speaking for hours about paranormal topics:

“Don’t believe anything I say, find out for yourself.”

That said, here I go. (In order as written in your story.)

  1. After six years and in a new “place” I wonder if you’re being haunted by Licorice, a dead cat. Similar affections? Mostly I hear of returns within weeks or months. Could it be something attached to the new “place”?
  2. I would not “ignore” this presence. Ignoring is tolerating. You’re the boss of your reality.
  3. Blocking physical access would have no effect. The spirit world is not bound by physical world rules. Blocking by means of your will should help.
  4. You wrote: “I can feel her kick me so I move so I don’t hurt her.” To me it seems that your moving to accommodate a dead cat is an act of acceptance.
  5. Your concern about hurting her (a dead cat) seems like an acceptance. In my opinion, there is no hurt. It doesn’t belong here. It is not of this dimension.
  6. REMEMBER: this is your story, your stage. You are the boss of your reality in this three-dimensional world.
  7. PROTECT YOURSELF. Envision and surround yourself with bright white light, know that only good and positive energies surround and protect you.
  8. TAKE CHARGE. There’s no wishy-washy here. No negotiation. You must demand and command action.
Stand in the middle of the rooms where you’ve experienced the most activity. Muster internal strength. Be calm. Be firm.
State the rules out loud: This is my home. This is my dimension, my reality. I command you to leave. Do not return. You must leave now. And repeat as necessary. Your only reaction should be GO AWAY.

Asian ghost appears to young teen.

Asian ghost appears to young teen.

I’ve always had weird experiences as a kid, some I can remember and some I can’t.… When I was a young teenager, about 13 years old, I had a “girlfriend” who I was absolutely obsessed with, and she with me. We would spend hours on the phone which lasted into the wee hours of the night. Naturally this drove my parents nuts. Back then, if you were on the phone, anyone calling the house would just get a busy signal; no answering machines. It got so bad that my parents pulled the landlines from all the phones and hid them for about a week. I remember I had a really hard time sleeping that week because I was so used to staying up and taking about nothing with my girlfriend.

At this time, me and my brother shared a room. Our beds were arranged to be perpendicular to each other. The foot of my bed was closest to his bed and the window was on the right side of my bed with the door to our room on the left side. As I laid there and looked over to my brother, I remember being jealous that he was sound asleep and here I was wide awake.

An Asian ghost appears. “His entire body was transparent. But then he slowly started filling up with color.”

It was a hot summer night and we didn’t have air conditioning so the window was wide open. As I was staring at his bed, I suddenly felt a light breeze. I remember thinking it was weird because there had not been a single breeze all night. As I turned to look at the window I saw what resembled a transparent head flying into the room. It made its way over to the door. It was so transparent that I wasn’t sure what it was right away. As I turned my head and focused on the door, a man started to appear.

At first, body started to appear and seemed to grow from the head. His entire body was transparent. But then he slowly started filling up with color. I remember he was wearing a yellow tank top. As he became more clear and his face started to come into view, I could see his strong cheek bones and a long sharp jawline. I could tell he was Asian. It took me a few seconds (which seemed like forever) for my body to be able to move. As soon as I was able able move, I jumped out of my bed and right into my little brother’s bed. I looked over to the door but it was gone. I was still terrified and closed my eyes then slept in his bed for the rest of the night.

“I was going to tell my parents about what had happened, but my mother got a call and went berserk.”

Premonition Dreams of Black Dogs, a Black Figure, a Best Friend

Premonition dreams—for some scary reason, they came true.

Premonition dreams of black dogs, a black figure, and the best friend I ever had.

This is going to be quite long, but I am willing to swear it is true.

I grew up in a very superstitious family that believes in witches, vampires, guardian angels, etc. However, I never cared about those things. I thought they were products of our ancestors’ imagination and only served for entertainment.

Despite the fact that I was told I have a guardian angel and that I had a strange birth, I just could care less. But things kept getting weirder as I grew up. I kept getting weird dreams that were out of this world and for some scary reasons, they came true. I couldn’t remember clearly all the dreams because I had forced myself to not remember them due to fear—but a few still haunt me.

Premonition Dreams of Black Dogs.

One of them was that I had envisioned the death of two people I had never known until the day of their funeral. In my dream, two or maybe three black dogs came to my window and told me about two souls being tied to a pole near the road I had taken to school everyday. They led me to them and I saw a woman and a man being tied to a pole with a pile of wood underneath them. They were crying for help, crying for me to help them. The black dogs told me they needed help. I didn’t remember what I said but when I woke up I ignored the dream.

Then I heard from one kid I had talked to only once that her brother had died in a moto accident on the road I had taken to school. And after the funeral, I heard that a long, long distant relative of mine (never heard of her before too) whose mother lived on the road I had taken to school died in a car accident.

I also kept seeing black dogs on my way to school after that.

Dreams warn of hard times to come.

Scary Dreams Shared by Sisters

Scary Dreams Shared by Sisters

I dream vividly most of the time and I have had disturbing, fearful, scary dreams every night for two weeks. However, I am not remembering details of the dreams, only that I am afraid or scared. I wake up, then turn on light in bedroom and go back to sleep after a few minutes.

“Two full weeks of disturbing, scary dreams.”

At the end of two weeks, my sister who lives in another state was in town visiting my parents and I told her I had not been sleeping well for the last two weeks and I mentioned my disturbing scary dreams. My sister, who does not believe in ghosts, told me the same thing! She said she seldom dreams or remembers the dreams but had been experiencing the same fear dream for two weeks also!

“Someone was in the house….”  Continue reading

Kids See Shadow Man

Kids See Shadow Man

There’s this “gift” that goes around in my family. It normally only happens to the females but my brother has had more of it than I have. So pretty much we can see and experience things that most people can’t. My mom says that we’re clairvoyant and sensitive to spirits and other stuff like that. With my grandmother, mother, brother and me all combined, we have some pretty interesting stories.

“… there was something under his bed …”

So this happened a long time ago, I was only about 6 or 7 while my brother was 5. My brother woke me up in the middle of the night saying that there was something under his bed, so I did what any big sister would do and told him to go back to sleep. He kept persisting that something was bothering him so I went under his bed to prove that everything was fine, and everything was fine. He was still scared and asked me to stay in his bedroom for the rest of the night. So I went and crawled in a chair next to his bed, and it wasn’t long before I was asleep again.

“My mom started screaming at the shadow figure as it started to come closer.”

This next part is just what I gathered from all my family members (because I was asleep). My brother still couldn’t go back to sleep so he just sat in his bed freaking out. Until he noticed something behind the TV in his room, he described it as a shadow figure peeking out from behind the TV stand. My brother started screaming and that’s when my mom came in, my mom saw the same thing that my brother did. My mom said she started screaming at the shadow figure as it started to come closer.

“She described it as a dark mass.”

As it got into the light my mom could see it better, she described it as a dark mass with devil-like horns and smoke where it’s legs should have been, but the smoke was rolling like a snake.

“My brother tried to run …”

My brother tried to run for the door, but that shadow thing was in the way. My mom tried to stop my brother from getting too close to the shadow figure, but the thing rolled back as my brother got closer, as if it wasn’t interested in my brother. My mom said it looked like it was going to get closer to her, but as my grandmother came into the room the thing kept going backwards, back into the dark corner where it came from. It hit the TV and when it did the TV started going crazy, playing different channels and going static, until finally it just started smoking and blew a gasket kind of.

Right after that both my grandmother and my mom said I looked towards them (with my eyes still closed) and said, “Don’t worry guys, it’s just the shadow man.” I have no memory of saying that or even the shadow thing, I was asleep through the whole thing, which is crazy because I’m a very light sleeper.

I’m always amazed that paranormal experiences (dreams, visions, ghost encounters, whatever) — like Kids See Shadow Man — linger in memory for decades.

Ghost Girl in the Tree

Ghost Girl in the Tree

As a 19-year-old in the early nineties, I worked as a nursing assistant at a local nursing home. One day in January 1993 when I was walking past one of the resident’s rooms I was stopped by the room’s occupant. She pointed to her window and said, “There. There’s a naked girl in the tree out there.”

“I told her everything is OK …”

Her window faced the woods behind the facility, which separated our grounds from the local university. Needless to say, I did not see anyone in the tree. I told her everything is OK and went about my duties.

Frantic and tearful … “Please get her down …”

Many Voices on the Day I Died

The Day I Died

This is a story of death (or at least a near death experience) that happened to me many years ago. There was a time that I went through a very dark phase in my life. I let my negative thoughts consume me. I spent many days thinking of how I hated my life. Most days I would go to work, come home, lie down, and cry myself to sleep.

“I felt more awake than ever.”

One of these days in particular, was so surreal. I had a rough afternoon at work, came home, and flopped myself down on my bed. I remember closing my eyes, and starting to doze off. I had left my bedroom light off, but when I came to, there was a soft light in my room.

Many voices — but no one was there

My brain felt foggy, I knew I was sleeping, but at the same time felt more awake than ever. It was then that I noticed I was lying on the floor. I was supposed to be on my bed, but how did I end up on the floor? I heard soft sounds in the background and felt an overwhelming feeling of sadness. I observed that I also felt strange, as if I were not in control of my own body. Suddenly, I heard the noises again like a person was sobbing. I did not see anyone around me, and pulled myself nearer to the sound.

As I crawled on the floor my room was bigger than before and darker too. The crying sounds grew louder, and it felt as though I were at a wake. The ambience was somber and I did not know why I was there. All I knew was I kept crawling towards the source of the sound. The closer I moved towards the crying sounds, the louder and more disturbing they grew. There was no other person present but it sounded as though there were many voices.

Another chance

When I thought I had reached the sounds, I then heard a loud voice in my head. Unlike the wailing sounds I heard around me, this internal voice was firm and commanding. I clearly heard, “You better hurry up!” I felt my entire body shake and opened my eyes. I examined my surroundings and found myself back in my bed.

To this day, I cannot account for what happened. I’ve had nightmares, and lucid dreams, but this experience was very different. Since that day, the only thing I could understand from this was that I died or had a near-death experience and was given another chance.

A Sign from Beyond in a Pretty Blue Bag

A Sign from Beyond in a Pretty Blue Bag

On Mar. 13, 1999, my Dad called me to tell me that Mom died. Massive heart attack. Though divorced, they both resided in Ohio. I lived, and still do in Arizona. This news blindsided me, as I spoke to her the previous day, and she sounded fine.

I lived with my cat of 17 years, Pinky, in a nice one-bedroom apartment. Once I got off the phone with Dad, I went outside for a walk to clear my head a bit. Was walking through the apartment complex next door to mine, and came across a beautiful blue bag, sitting on the top of a dumpster. I’ve never before, or have since, picked up anything out of the trash, but the bag was really pretty, and my favorite shade of blue, so I got up on the dumpster, and retrieved the bag.

Ask for a sign

Returned home, and set the bag on the kitchen floor. Called my best friend, and told her the news; she said she’d come by. I took a quick bath, so as to clean my face up from crying, and while in the bath, was “talking” to my Mom, saying, “Mom, you’ve got to give me a sign, because I don’t know whether I should stay in Phoenix, or go to Cleveland for the funeral.” (Could not afford to miss work by going, and was not going to leave Pinky with just anybody, due to his age. Also, the friend that came over was leaving the next day on a business trip, so there went my only potential cat sitter.) Anyhow, as soon as I said those words to my Mom, I said, “Oh no, you can’t give me a sign, cuz you know you’ll scare me to death!” (I don’t like paranormal or ghostly stuff; usually too scary for me.)

The pretty blue bag
