Shut the Cold Room Door

This is my mother’s story but also leads on to what happened to me this summer… in the cold room. I have loved the paranormal since I was young as I can remember. And this is my story

“The dogs would come running…”

In high school, my mother would be at my grandparents house alone, just relaxing and the dogs would chase what we call “something” down our long hallway. Everyone who was alone would hear a shriek and the dogs would come running as if they were being chased back.

I must tell you, you can see into it at the start and behind the stairs where the kitchen starts.

She saw a big black figure

Her most terrifying incident was when she was alone, watching television, the couch used to be directed towards the stairs as that was where the television was. She was watching when she heard footsteps, she looked into the hallway to see a big black figure run down the hallway. She called “Hello?” there was no response and so she thought she had seen nothing. Until my aunt said she experienced the same things too.

Another thing to happen in this house was telephone calls coming from the home phone with no one on the other line. They were traced and we found out they were coming from the basement. The thing is, there is only one home phone.

Shut the cold room door

My grandparents knew they had spirits after that and decided to shut the cold room door in the basement which was the oldest room in the house.

After that nothing happened.

My cousins and I were born and my grandparents still live there. My eldest cousin and I decided to open the cold room door as a joke. We went down there and I already had a sick feeling. We opened it quickly and a shadow quickly sped by and disappeared. At this point I was screaming and didn’t know what to think.

It’s been a month and I refuse to enter the house.

Asian ghost appears to young teen.

Asian ghost appears to young teen.

I’ve always had weird experiences as a kid, some I can remember and some I can’t.… When I was a young teenager, about 13 years old, I had a “girlfriend” who I was absolutely obsessed with, and she with me. We would spend hours on the phone which lasted into the wee hours of the night. Naturally this drove my parents nuts. Back then, if you were on the phone, anyone calling the house would just get a busy signal; no answering machines. It got so bad that my parents pulled the landlines from all the phones and hid them for about a week. I remember I had a really hard time sleeping that week because I was so used to staying up and taking about nothing with my girlfriend.

At this time, me and my brother shared a room. Our beds were arranged to be perpendicular to each other. The foot of my bed was closest to his bed and the window was on the right side of my bed with the door to our room on the left side. As I laid there and looked over to my brother, I remember being jealous that he was sound asleep and here I was wide awake.

An Asian ghost appears. “His entire body was transparent. But then he slowly started filling up with color.”

It was a hot summer night and we didn’t have air conditioning so the window was wide open. As I was staring at his bed, I suddenly felt a light breeze. I remember thinking it was weird because there had not been a single breeze all night. As I turned to look at the window I saw what resembled a transparent head flying into the room. It made its way over to the door. It was so transparent that I wasn’t sure what it was right away. As I turned my head and focused on the door, a man started to appear.

At first, body started to appear and seemed to grow from the head. His entire body was transparent. But then he slowly started filling up with color. I remember he was wearing a yellow tank top. As he became more clear and his face started to come into view, I could see his strong cheek bones and a long sharp jawline. I could tell he was Asian. It took me a few seconds (which seemed like forever) for my body to be able to move. As soon as I was able able move, I jumped out of my bed and right into my little brother’s bed. I looked over to the door but it was gone. I was still terrified and closed my eyes then slept in his bed for the rest of the night.

“I was going to tell my parents about what had happened, but my mother got a call and went berserk.”

The next day I didn’t tell anyone. Later that week, my parents decided to hook the phones back on. I remember I was going to tell my parents about what had happened, but my mother got a call and went berserk. Her dad had passed away and they weren’t able to get a hold of us because my parents had detached the phone lines. She was so angry at me because she blamed me for having to disconnect our phones. I felt guilty but was also angry because I refused to believe it was my fault, so we stopped taking for a few days. I just never brought it up because I figured the death of my grandfather overshadowed my experience.

We had come to the states as refugees (from Laos) for 14 years at this point, but her parents had decided to stay in the old country. It cost a lot of money to make a long distance call back then, so my mother and her family did not talk much which made it even harder for her when he passed.

“It felt very real and I remember it very clearly even to this day.”

Years later, my mother’s mom (my grandmother) and her brothers (my uncles) and their families finally made the move to the States. My very first meeting with one of the uncles sort of shocked me. He looked very similar to the apparition that I had seen in my room that hot summer night. That jogged my memory which I then finally told my parents the story. They weren’t sure what to make of it and to this day believe that I imagined it. But it felt very real and I remember it very clearly even to this day.

“Grandfather’s ghost appears in a youthful form.”

I often wonder/speculate if it was my grandfather in his youth form that appeared to me the night he died.

Premonition Dreams of Black Dogs, a Black Figure, a Best Friend

Premonition dreams—for some scary reason, they came true.

Premonition dreams of black dogs, a black figure, and the best friend I ever had.

This is going to be quite long, but I am willing to swear it is true.

I grew up in a very superstitious family that believes in witches, vampires, guardian angels, etc. However, I never cared about those things. I thought they were products of our ancestors’ imagination and only served for entertainment.

Despite the fact that I was told I have a guardian angel and that I had a strange birth, I just could care less. But things kept getting weirder as I grew up. I kept getting weird dreams that were out of this world and for some scary reasons, they came true. I couldn’t remember clearly all the dreams because I had forced myself to not remember them due to fear—but a few still haunt me.

Premonition Dreams of Black Dogs.

One of them was that I had envisioned the death of two people I had never known until the day of their funeral. In my dream, two or maybe three black dogs came to my window and told me about two souls being tied to a pole near the road I had taken to school everyday. They led me to them and I saw a woman and a man being tied to a pole with a pile of wood underneath them. They were crying for help, crying for me to help them. The black dogs told me they needed help. I didn’t remember what I said but when I woke up I ignored the dream.

Then I heard from one kid I had talked to only once that her brother had died in a moto accident on the road I had taken to school. And after the funeral, I heard that a long, long distant relative of mine (never heard of her before too) whose mother lived on the road I had taken to school died in a car accident.

I also kept seeing black dogs on my way to school after that.

Dreams warn of hard times to come.

The next dream was about a teacher of mine. I dreamt that he would leave us soon. Before he left, he pulled a dollar bill from his pocket with the number five written repeatedly on it. He told me everything would change soon and then he left.

A few months after the dream, he did leave and my life had taken a turn for the worse. Despite that, I never actually got harmed or even sank to the bottom and I still don’t know why. I was doomed to fail and everyone knew it, but I kept getting lucky.

A lifelong friendship was simply a dream.

This last dream is very close to me and I had been seeking answers for so long. I dreamt of the boy I had met in lower school. For some weird reason everything I dreamt about him came true.

I remembered him wearing a blue shirt and working with children and guess what? He somehow decided to volunteer in a children’s NGO and posted a picture there with a blue shirt on. I dreamt that we never talked and in real life we never did. However, one night I dreamt that he left but somehow he promised me that he would come back. To my surprise he did leave, but he never said anything because we weren’t friends. Years later, I saw him on a social media post. He was sitting at the exact same spot I had been. We were back to back but none of us recognized one another.

“He was the closest friend I ever had even though he was a dream.”

The difference between the guy in my dream and the guy in real life is that even when the boy left, the boy in my dreams never left. In my dreams, he grew up with me. I dreamt the entire scenario of our lives, our ups and our downs and until we went to college. He was the closest friend I ever had even though he was a dream.

But our story was tragic because the last dream I had of him was him being the villain. After realizing he had been trying to shoot me, he threw away the gun and ran away. I tried running after him, but I never caught up with him so I just sat on a pile of rocks and waited until I woke up. To this day, I never dreamt of him again.

Was he a vision like other dreams I had? It didn’t make sense. I had lived half of my life with him before it all ended. Never had such dreams lasted for years until the entire story played out. I kept visiting the guy’s timeline because I missed the “him” in my dreams but the two had the same name, same background, same childhood but they did not look alike.

Premonition dreams. “My dreams messed with my mind.”

I remembered praying for the first time at a temple and I prayed for answers regarding that dream. When I was walking away, a man with a lost look on his face appeared out of nowhere and said, “It is no use clinging to the past for it won’t help you grow into something you are meant to be in the future.”

I used to ignore everything but sometimes I thought maybe he was right. I might not have answers for everything that had happened to me, but there is no use hanging on to them. Still, I grew to hate it. I grew to hate my dreams because they messed with my mind and realities so much that nowadays I dreamt less. My dreams became a bit more “normal”.

“I kept seeing things, people and animals that had died.”

Apart from my dreams I kept seeing things, people and animals that had died. It also affected other people close to me. For example, one lady called me but I was too lazy to answer her, yet she still heard me answering quite clearly, so she continued talking to me. Someone or something had decided to answer her for me.

A big black figure protects home and family.

A group of Vietnamese beggars tried to rob our house when I was a baby. When they tried to walk past me all of them tumbled down the stairs before they could do harm. They all ran away screaming about some big black figure pushing them down the steps. I refused to accept all of this.

“I knew they existed no matter how many times I tried to avoid them.”

I refused to believe what I saw and the weird things that my mom told me about myself when I was younger. I told myself she was just making things up to tease me because I was the only one who doesn’t believe in such things. But I saw and heard them myself so I knew they existed no matter how many times I tried to avoid them. Still, I would try to ignore them cuz ignorance is bliss.

Scary Dreams Shared by Sisters

Scary Dreams Shared by Sisters

I dream vividly most of the time and I have had disturbing, fearful, scary dreams every night for two weeks. However, I am not remembering details of the dreams, only that I am afraid or scared. I wake up, then turn on light in bedroom and go back to sleep after a few minutes.

“Two full weeks of disturbing, scary dreams.”

At the end of two weeks, my sister who lives in another state was in town visiting my parents and I told her I had not been sleeping well for the last two weeks and I mentioned my disturbing scary dreams. My sister, who does not believe in ghosts, told me the same thing! She said she seldom dreams or remembers the dreams but had been experiencing the same fear dream for two weeks also!

“Someone was in the house….”

We were both having dreams of fear as if someone was in the home that was an intruder, waking up afraid, scared. All the dreams are of waking up in the dream and feeling intense fear, someone in the house, not quite sure why the fear.

In one her dreams my sister saw an older man in the doorway of her bedroom and he was turning away to leave. He had grey hair with leg-o’-mutton (mutton chop) sideburns like Elvis or Civil War soldiers.

“I woke up again last night, scared…”

I woke up again last night, scared and turned on the light to go back to sleep. Two days later, my dreams stopped and I slept through the night. My sister had not commented on her dreams since and has gone back home to another state.

What are we seeing, hearing, feeling, that is in common? What could recurring fear dreams for two sisters in two separate states mean? Any comments would be wonderful. I am stumped.

***

Donna, thank you for sharing your story about recurring scary dreams shared with your sister. That you and your sister live in different U.S. states has nothing to do with your shared dreams, she could live on the other side of earth or the moon. The distance of space is a three-dimensional thought, which is where our bodies live. In my opinion, spirits and dreams live elsewhere. I wish I had more to offer.

Ghost Girl in the Tree

Ghost Girl in the Tree

As a 19-year-old in the early nineties, I worked as a nursing assistant at a local nursing home. One day in January 1993 when I was walking past one of the resident’s rooms I was stopped by the room’s occupant. She pointed to her window and said, “There. There’s a naked girl in the tree out there.”

“I told her everything is OK …”

Her window faced the woods behind the facility, which separated our grounds from the local university. Needless to say, I did not see anyone in the tree. I told her everything is OK and went about my duties.

Frantic and tearful … “Please get her down …”

The next day she was frantic and tearful. She kept saying, “Please go get that girl down from the tree! She’s naked and it’s cold! See, see, she’s right there in the tree! Please get her down and put some clothes on her!” The nurses had to medicate her and I put her in bed.

Searching the wood

Moving on to the next day, she called out to me and a co-worker and said, “You see, they are going to get her down.” There were several men behind the facility. I later found out that they were detectives searching the wood.

That night on the local news they announced that they found the body of a missing university student in those woods. She had gone missing two days prior. My heart sank! I began to wonder if the resident, who was diagnosed as having dementia, saw the ghost of that student.

Ghost girl in the tree

That event has stuck with me over the years and I can remember it like it was yesterday.

Many Voices on the Day I Died

The Day I Died

This is a story of death (or at least a near death experience) that happened to me many years ago. There was a time that I went through a very dark phase in my life. I let my negative thoughts consume me. I spent many days thinking of how I hated my life. Most days I would go to work, come home, lie down, and cry myself to sleep.

“I felt more awake than ever.”

One of these days in particular, was so surreal. I had a rough afternoon at work, came home, and flopped myself down on my bed. I remember closing my eyes, and starting to doze off. I had left my bedroom light off, but when I came to, there was a soft light in my room.

Many voices — but no one was there

My brain felt foggy, I knew I was sleeping, but at the same time felt more awake than ever. It was then that I noticed I was lying on the floor. I was supposed to be on my bed, but how did I end up on the floor? I heard soft sounds in the background and felt an overwhelming feeling of sadness. I observed that I also felt strange, as if I were not in control of my own body. Suddenly, I heard the noises again like a person was sobbing. I did not see anyone around me, and pulled myself nearer to the sound.

As I crawled on the floor my room was bigger than before and darker too. The crying sounds grew louder, and it felt as though I were at a wake. The ambience was somber and I did not know why I was there. All I knew was I kept crawling towards the source of the sound. The closer I moved towards the crying sounds, the louder and more disturbing they grew. There was no other person present but it sounded as though there were many voices.

Another chance

When I thought I had reached the sounds, I then heard a loud voice in my head. Unlike the wailing sounds I heard around me, this internal voice was firm and commanding. I clearly heard, “You better hurry up!” I felt my entire body shake and opened my eyes. I examined my surroundings and found myself back in my bed.

To this day, I cannot account for what happened. I’ve had nightmares, and lucid dreams, but this experience was very different. Since that day, the only thing I could understand from this was that I died or had a near-death experience and was given another chance.

Toe-walking deer dance premonition

Deer dance premonition dream

In my deer dance premonition dream I was with the head instructor of a wilderness school. I participated in their Basic Skills week, held in the deep forests of central Maine. In the dream we worked on a more difficult tracking exercise, at least for me.

As I looked into the forest clearing I saw deer that shifted into a group of people—several men and one woman—doing a specific toe-walk. They would put the ball of the foot down and then lift the heel quickly and gently from the ground. They were wearing moccasins. The woman wore black leotards and a black skirt like a dancer, with hair tied in a bun like a ballerina. Men surrounded her on three sides. They toe-walked in unison.

A message and a gift from the deer people

The deer people gave me a message and a gift. They were showing me a specific walk that would help to camouflage a group walking in the woods if everyone did this together.

When I awoke, I felt elated, light-hearted, and thought seeing deer shift into human form was pretty cool.

I did not know this form of walking in the woods, and when I went for walk, I did not experience any contact with deer.

I wrote to the wilderness school. They confirmed that yes, in fact, there is a deer walk used to stalk and track in the forest. The wilderness school encouraged me to practice the walk as given in the dream.

Deer dance dream proved true

Later on, in the fall of that year, I attended a workshop for dreamers given by a dream shaman. One of the participants was a member of an ensemble that performed a deer dance that dates back to the 1100s in Europe.

  • A group of men acting as the deer re-enact the deer dance.
  • They walk using the ball of the foot and gently lifting their heels.
  • There is only one woman involved.

Dream of an alternate life

“I dream of living an alternate life …”

I dream of just living an alternate life altogether in which I go through phases, like at the moment, I’m in college. The world is different, more beautiful, it is always sunny and the atmosphere is just beyond explanation. I can breathe better in these dreams. I can smell happiness and feel joy. I can go anywhere in these dreams and not feel the least bit fearful. It is also where I see a lot of my deceased relatives as well the settings that never change. I could explain what I’ve seen and the places that I’ve been in this reality in fine detail, but that’s not what I’m discussing in this story.

“The world is different, more beautiful. I can breathe better in these dreams. I can smell happiness and feel joy and not feel the least bit fearful — but that’s not what I’m discussing in this story…”

There’s a particular dream I’ve had a few times, once when I was about 8-10 years of age and one I’ve had sometime afterwards, into my teens, that stands out to me greatly and that I just cannot explain.

(This story is long, and a bit hard to follow. DreamWatch has done extensive editing and still can’t guess its meaning, but we felt it was of enough interest to post. Maybe it will make sense to someone.)

Chased. Stalked. Shot.

I started having these dreams of being chased by unrecognizable human beings, being stalked, as well as shot. These dreams have followed me into my adult years, I am now 20 years old. A few months ago I was sucked into this reality yet again, but different. This one stands out the most because of its well thought out scenario, one in which I couldn’t have thought of in a million years and it’s a pretty creepy one, here’s the story:

It starts at a party, a birthday party for a baby cousin.

There were a lot of kids and a fair amount of adults so of course there was a lot of noise. In a chair next to a dryer diagonal from the bathroom sits me, my body facing four children who sat lined up against the wall. My attention turned towards my eldest cousins aged 19 and 17 who were laughing and having a conversation.

Out of the blue one little girl blurts a curse word. I quickly turned my attention to the little girl, “Watch your mouth.” The girl continues to curse not only that, but throw insults as well. Not long after, it’s a sibling showdown, back and forth we go.

In the midst of it all, I see one of my aunts speaking discreetly to a mysterious woman. Immediately, I respond, “Is something wrong?” as if I already knew something very suspect was going on or on the verge of going down.

I then turn my attention back to my eldest cousins, while at the same time watching my aunt walk into the other room with this mystery lady. I remember distinctly the same little girl blurt another curse word. I once again turn my attention to her and all of a sudden from the corner of my eye to the left, a bald black man in a suit who seems to be in his mid- to late-40s walks through my aunt’s front door and calls me out like a school sentry picking up the class clown.

I turn my attention to the little girl smiling at me as well as my aunt and the mystery lady, but for some odd reason I respectfully went with, who at the time I expected to be an officer of some sort, confident that I would be set free due to it all being a big dumb misunderstanding. But I was wrong.

Leaving the house, instead of a cop car, I was making my way to a black SUV, in which I noticed a young boy passenger about the same age as me. I have never seen these people in my freaking life!!! but I remained content as I sat in the backseat of this van and we pull off.

“The strangest thing began to happen and thinking back on it now it scares me.”

The officer and this younger boy begins singing a song that I have never heard, out of the blue, just starts harmonizing and singing like they were auditioning for the X-Factor or something. It was then when I suspected that the two were father and son so I asked them what song they were singing and the investigator tells me the name (again I’ve never heard of the song ever so I can’t remember the name) so I say “He must’ve sung that song to you a lot when you were younger” and suddenly the both of them turn to each other, grinning at one another, and if I remember correctly the younger one says in sort of a mumbled tone, “If only he knew.”

Eventually we show up to what looks like a huge fenced in lot with a garage. We’re backing into this lot and immediately I start getting anxious and we have to change vehicles seconds later. I find myself hands tied in a damn golf cart driving up to this garage at this point I’m planning my escape, yet at the same time I can’t help but be interested in what awaited behind this garage door.

Slowly the garage door opens…

Slowly the garage door opens and opens and opens and as expected … nothing, just an empty dirty garage with a single brick shaped window at the top of the back wall. It wasn’t long before I had hopped out that cart and was hauling across a busy street hopping and crossing every car, I could feel this person chasing me like I knew he was right behind me.

Now that I think about it, he was so close to me all it really took was for him to reach out his hand and grab me and from all of the crazy a traffic I shoulda’ been hit and on the ground but I think due to my determination to not get caught this time like before … yes, before (it was a quick lil’ chase in which I got caught and blacked out when I hit traffic). I was strongly determined to not get caught this time. I felt like I was running in this dream literally for a whole hour until I finally reached my grandmother’s house and running into the kitchen to grab a knife.

If I did get caught like in the older dream starring my younger self, I would be killing another version of myself…

As soon as I turned around the officer was in the kitchen and in front of me with his hands held out towards me signaling that I lower the knife and I refused. I was not gonna get caught, I couldn’t get caught, it was like in my conscious mind a very small part of it kinda knew I was in a dream or an alternate reality and that if I did get caught like in the older dream starring my younger self, I would be killing another version of myself (sad I know) so I stabbed him and as soon as that happened I heard the front door open and I just knew so I bolted to the back door.

Now in this dream like all of my dreams, my grandmother’s house is the most accurately detailed because I’ve spent so much time there. I was practically raised there so like my grandmother’s house the back porch is gone and there is a dumpster in the way. So hopping out of the back door behind this dumpster I crouch, peaking from the right as another black van and the familiar face of a Hispanic man, whom I do strongly believe was the capture of my younger self, walk up to the house.

As he approaches the younger kid, the son of the officer runs out of the house searching for me. After a few quick seconds of confusion he spots me and starts yelling and kickin’ and cursing me while being held by the Hispanic guy because of what I did to his father, suddenly the Hispanic guy tightly grabs a hold of him to calm him down and throws his arms around the son of the officer. I then heard him say in a calm and assuring tone, “Next time we’ll get him, next time.”

All I can do now is wonder whoever reads this and can share a similar story. I seen a post on here that mentioned having these same dreams which is exciting because it may better explain our superstitions and serve as proof of such things.
